Network Security Map (My Network) "Not Responding"

I'm getting an error on 360 that says "Devices on your network are not responding.  Do you want to try again?" when I try to look at the Network Security Map (by clicking My Network in the lower left).  It used to work, maybe a month ago (I don't look at it often).  I have a 3-license of 360, with it installed on a Vista laptop, an XP desktop, and my main Vista Pro machine.  The other machines can "see" the network and the other machines (I also have an iMac, HP Printer, and a Wii on the LAN).  It's only on my primary machine that I get the error and am unable to see the rest of the LAN.  I can see other machines in Windows Explorer, just not in 360.

I've disabled Defender, Ad-Aware and other similar programs for testing (I have to keep them all running because 360 keeps turning off by itself - see my other post for that).  Even with all those other protections disabled, 360 won't display the network map.

Any ideas?

Hi Kevio,

Which version of Norton 360 are you using?

If you are using Norton 360 2.0, go through the information provided in this Symantec Support Article.

Thanks for the response.  I'm using 360 v 2.5.0.5 on a machine running Vista Home Pro.  All Vista updates are applied.  I have a new Linksys WRT310N wireless router, but all of my machines, except for the Wii & my laptop, are hard-wired.  So, I have an iMac, a second XP machine and an HP printer that are physically connected to the router, and those other machines can see the network map with no trouble.

As far as I know, the network is correctly configured on my Vista box - it hums right along.

I looked at that link, and it was pretty generi, and none of it applied to my configuration.  So, I'm still stumped...

Hi Kevio,

If you are using Norton 360 2.5, better upgrade to latest version - Norton 360 3.0 and then check for this issue. If you have a current subscription to Norton 360, you can update to the latest version by downloading the update (Norton 360 v3 Standard or Norton 360 v3 Premier). When you install the update, it will remove your previous Norton 360 product and apply the subscription information to Norton 360 v3. You can continue using the new version by just renewing the subscription when the current subscription expires. Please proceed with updatig your Norton 360 to latest version and let us know how it goes. You can use the same product key of Norton 360 2.5 for activation of Norton 360 3.0. After that, check for the Network Security Map issue.

Hi Kevio,

Before following Yogesh's suggestion, it would be best to uninstall all the other malware scanners just to be sure that nothing is still loaded to interfere with the installation of N360 v3.  I would recommending in this case to uninstall N360 v2 first and then install v3.  If you have any online backups through v2 see this page for some addition steps to make a clean removal of v2 and carry the backup information forward.  Please let us know when you have done this and if this fixes the other problem of N360 not running properly also.

Upgrading from v2.5 to v3.0 seemed to do the trick, although the interface is a little different and required some configuring.  I'll keep an eye on it.

And maybe this will also solve my problem with 360 turning off by itself.  We'll see about that.

Thanks!
