I am having some networking difficulties. Basically, the network has several computers on it, in various states of configuration, all being protected with Norton Internet Security 2008. Originally they setup a batch file using robocopy to copy pertinent files on the server, to the server. It was not checked, or updated, as computers and people changed/moved/left. Now it seems that very few are even being backed up at all. Using my new machine as a control group, I discovered that I had to add the IP of the server to the Norton Internet Security’s trusted address list just to get it to allow the server to see it. Now though, when trying to access my new machine from the server, it tries to log in through the guest account, which I have disabled. The log in prompt displays this, but is grayed out, not allowing me to try to log in through the backup account instead, which I setup primarily for allowing the server access to backup (and which I have password protected). This seems to be the case for many of the computers; it either does not see them, or will only try as a guest. Does this sound like a familiar problem? What should be my next step?
