New 4 GB USB Cruzer failed with Norton Bootable Recovery Tool

I had the Norton Bootable Recovery Tool installed on a USB drive, that Norton formatted as FAT32, and made an .iso file on that's nearly half a gigabyte large. I rebooted, went into Setup and changed the boot order to USB Sandisk drive first, rebooted, then I saw some Norton-like "Booting into Windows" screen, then it turned yellow for nearly a minute then I got an error message that Norton Recovery Tool didn't have the required file "ERR 0001" and quit. I went back into Setup and found the USB Sandisk missing from bootup options, but found one of my 3 external USB drives on the bootlist ahead of my normal hard drives, so when the Sandisk kicked out, another USB device took its place. I had to change that back to hard drive booting. I rebooted. My Sandisk was missing from the drive lineup in My Computer even though it was lit and blinking and acting active. I had to unplug the Sandisk drive and replug it back in to get it recognized.

My current AV is Norton 360 v. 5.1.0.29
