New Definitions File

Good morning!

I ran Live Update this morning and got the message that not all updates were not successful. I went to tech Support, the page I got said to download a new definitions file. After almost 1 hour it was still not completed and I had to cancel it.

I am wondering, my Norton is 28 days from needing to be renewed, if I go ahead and renew it now, will I still have to d/l this file again? Or will renewing Norton take care of all of that?

Thanks for any help.

I did see this post but I am still curious as to whether renewing my current subscription will take care of the problem.

There has been problems on and off for the past few weeks with LiveUpdate servers.  It became a major issue at some point yesterday and then theystarted working again.  It apears they are currently having problmes again.

My suggestion is to run manual updates from time to time and as in the past they will eventually all download and install.

Renewing your subscription will do nothing but change the days remaining - it will not correct this problem.

Thanks, Yank!  :smileyhappy:

How do I run manual updates?

Sorry, but I have always just clicked 'Run Live Update' and they would d/l. I have never had to do them manually.

Edit: I just ran Live Update and all is well...the updates were installed successfully.

Thanks again for your help!

You are welcome and BTW - what I call a "manual LiveUpdate" is exactly what you did - you manually started the LiveUpdate
rather than waiting until it ran automatically.
