Yes, I did an uninstall. After the problem started I then went through the registry and deleted anything Norton (the uninstall leaves tons of entries). Still getting the same error message. I really don't want to uninstall Windows 7 at this point but security wise I'm at zero options.

Hmmm you may want to post this issue in the NIS 2010 beta section, where your problem will get far more exposure, because this no longer has anything to do with the original topic (e-mail address change)...

I would agree here; you're now dealing with leftover parts of Norton 2010 Products Beta.

This is also a risk you take with trying out Beta Products.  You may not be able to get these File Removed from your system until the Norton Removal Tool has been Updated with the File Definitions.  And N.I.S. 2009 Products are not Windows 07 Compatible yet since the 16.7.2.10 Version has currently been Pulled from the Norton LiveUpdate Servers.

I’ve posted to the 2010 beta forum with this problem and will let you know what comes up.

Thank-you for your co-operation.

That’s not necessary as we monitor the 2010 beta forum also.

Please don't forget to close this thread, since your original problem has been dealt with. We'll keep an eye on your thread in the beta forum. Good luck with solving the NIS problem! ;-))

What is the size of the file you downloaded to install NIS2009 with, may I ask?

75 mb. Now when I try to install beta 2010 again I am told I need to install XP service pack 2 first. Huh?? I give up.

Please keep this to the Beta Forums; this Forum is to deal with Norton 2009 Products and Earlier at the moment.  Thank-you.

Run the Norton Removal Tool from here and try the install once again.

Here is socrfan's thread in the beta forum:

What Version of N.I.S. 2009 did you install on Windows 7?  To find your Version: Open your Norton 2009 Product > ? Help & Support > About.

Thank-you.
