About a day or 2 ago, my norton 360 application did an update (a whole new application update).
Now every hour or so when I view the "view recent history" it shows that the norton app is reporting "Error Condition Detected" back to the cloud.
I would like two know the meaning of the errors that the norton 360 app is running into - how can I find out what each error number mean?
For example, one of the errors say:
Error Class: 0xDE3975E3
What does this mean?
I am a programmer and this error message has not happened in the past - it just started after the latest update, so something is wrong and this error may indicate that the Norton app is NOT protect my PC as much as should be, so I am concerned.
*** attached is a screen shot of the error in the history view
"Internal error codes are generally not made public, because you usually cannot do anything about them."
"As long as your Norton icon in the system tray has the green check, your product is working correctly"
I am a developer myself, so your statements are probably fine for a general user. But my needs go deeper.
So, I NEED to know what the codes mean for two reasons:
1) Without knowing the meaning of the codes, I won't really know if I "can do something about them" or not. Maybe I disabled a service on purpose and some aspect of N360 needs it and that is causing an error. If I knew what the error code meant, then I might be able to fix a situation like this.
2) I am unaware of any documentation that gives the details of what makes the icon a green check or a red x. There are literally 100+ settings in N360 which control 100+ security features of N360. Will the icon turn red if even just 1 of those 100+ features are not working? Maybe some project manager determined that if "download intelligence detection" is not working properly, it is not a critical enough feature to turn the icon red, so I could be falsely thinking that my downloads are being checked when they are not, simply because the icon is green. But if you know where there is a document that specifically states the icon will be green ONLY if 100% of N360 is working properly, then I would be very interested in seeing that.
So, without knowing what the errors mean, it concerns me that I am NOT being fully protected.
After all, I am paying recurring money for the program to "work" as it is suppose to, so if it is not working properly, then I should at least know what are the problems it is having.
Internal error codes are generally not made public, because you usually cannot do anything about them. They are there for the developers/programmers to know what part of the code in their product is causing an issue.
As you are seeing these detections in the Error Reporting section of Norton History, the information has been submitted to Norton for investigation. Nothing more you can do now.
As long as your Norton icon in the system tray has the green check, your product is working correctly.
The "Eraser64" module is the module mentioned for the most common error code I get (0xDE3975E3).
But all of the other error codes each have a different module associated to them - I may spend the time to document which ones, but I'd much rather have a description of each of these error classes/codes.
