New version 20.4.0.40

I downloaded this new version and everything proceeded automatically, replacing the previous version and installing the current version, almost by magic.

Well donate the Norton team, once again.

I think this is why we don't need new yearly versions and/or Beta testing, when such excellent work is being carried out on a regular basis.

Cheers,

drshlomo.

Hi Matrix_Leader

Some people are getting it by sending a PM to Tony_Weiss and requesting it, I don’t know if its available to anyone who asks for it.  Keep a check on this thread and go back a few pages, as there is some information you might find interesting.

If you look through Tony’s post http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Product-Update-20-4-of-Norton-Internet-Security-and-Norton/m-p/973707#U973707 you will see information about requesting the download in section 3. Click on Tony’s name in that paragraph and you will be taken to Tony’s page. Look for a link at the top right to send this user a personal message.

Hey. I haven't recieved the update yet through LiveUpdate. Is it currently unavailable automatically and I just have to wait, or do I have to do it manually?

Hi caleb89sw,

If you are using NIS or NAV v.20, you can ask for the download link as suggested by peterweb to Tony_Weiss, for other languages you have to wait until Symantec will make the update available to all via LiveUpdate.

Why is everyone so obsessed with getting this version? what'sso great about it?

Hello everybody,

I'm confused too. Using NIS. 20.3.1.22, I have the problems with MBAM and the like. So I have a few questions to ask -

1. Should I upgrade to 20.4 directly or wait for the Live Update?

2. Should I remove my 20.3 with the NRT or use via the operating system?

3. Is there a way to save my custom settings in the product, or do I need to enter them all over again?

4. Is there a way of not seeing the MBAM message no matter what I do?

Please help me with this, as I am pulling my hair, LOL.

Cheers,

Flavio

Hi Flavio,

I requested the 20.4 link from Tony and now have no more MBAM issues. Before you decide between LiveUpdate or receiving the link from Tony, have a look at This Post and This Reply. More information is Here

If you decide you want to be sent the 20.4 full version link .. Click Here. Go to the 3rd section and click Tony's name to send a PM. Be sure to put in the Subject field exactly what is in Bold Red.

Backup/Export your ID Safe/Vault data in both DAT and CSV formats.

Have your 20.4 link at the ready.

Uninstall NIS 20.3.1.22 from Control Panel ..

Reboot computer ..

Run the Norton Removal Tool ..

Reboot computer again ..

Install 20.4 full product that Tony sent you.

Manually run LiveUpdate until all updates are installed and responds 'No Updates Found'.

Login to vault .. import from DAT if necessary.

Click - Support > About for Version 20.4.0.40.

Click - Support > Get Support to confirm whether MBAM issue has been resolved.

You may need to re-configure Settings upon clean install .. I did. If doing an 'Over the Top' upgrade with 20.4 you wouldn't .. but you might still have the MBAM issue.

Ed

That's all fine and dandy, but why am I stuck on 20.1.0.24 for days now since re-installing my OS and LU shows no new updates? Rebooted a dozen or so times in the last two days and no new NIS for me.

p.s. I have Norton Internet Security Online [English] from my ISP. I have used it before the re-format and it updated without problems to 20.3, but not now.

I got mine a couple of days ago thru Live Update on my computer and my wifes computer.

I'm not exactly sure why, but my Win7-64 Pro desktop upgraded NIS to 20.4.0.40 but my Win7-64 Home Premium laptop only upgraded to 20.3.1.22.

It is all in the timing. When an update patch is bing phased in, it may be available one minute and not the next. It all depends on when your individual computers connect to LiveUpdate.

Peterweb,

thanks.  I'll try upgrading my laptop until I get v20.4.0.40.  I have another post "2 Setup.exe files: 1/47 VirusTotal.COM Scan Positive for Win32.APPLAgent.Wf Virus. What to Do?".  Could you take a look at it?

Thanks in Advance.

Hello Edjr60,

Thanks for the information. I think that Symantec should build in a facility that lets you save all of your custom settings for the NIS product in a file that you can import and export, instead of going through the hassle of reconfiguring everything. At this point, I'll just wait for the LU and when the link to the final 20.4 build is available, I will re-install if required.

Ciao,

Hi Flavio,

Glad to provide a little info. 20.4 is slowly being phased in. As long as you get it via LiveUpdate, you won't have to re-configure your settings. You might want to double check them after you have 20.4, I always do for good measure, but they should remain the same as you have them configured.
