New Version - Missing Icon on Desktop

I just renewed my subscriptiion to 360 and downloaded and installed the latest version.  The last version had a Desktop icon which showed that overall status of protection.  This new version does not show that icon.  Am I missing a setting?  I'd like to have that icon back!!  Thank you............

Also the desktop shortcut has been removed from the Norton 2013 products: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360-2013-Norton-Internet/Desktop-icon/m-p/785998#M3212

If you want you can copy back the shortcut from the start menu in WinXP/Vista/7 or from the start screen in Win8. But you have to do this everytime when Symantec will release a product update which will change the version number because the desktop shortcut will not work.

It isn't the Desktop shortcut that I want.  Last year, when I first purchased and installed N360, a 'notification' icon was placed on my Desktop which let me know the overall status of my protection.  It's no longer there.

It sounds like you are referring to the Gadget -which was removed from the 2013 Norton Products.

I too would like the Norton 360 shortcut on my desktop.  I don't find an icon anywhere with an executable file attached to it to open Norton 360.  The icon is in the tray at the bottom right of the screen (Windows XP, SP3), and it will bring up the main menu since Norton 360 is already running after startup, but I would have liked to have the option of having it on my desktop.  Not sure why Symnantec removed that option.  Not happy with the upgrade.

Totally agree.  Had I known the gadget was going to be removed, I would have stayed with the previous version.

You still have the option to have a shortcut on your desktop.

See the post above from tbalint444444  where it is explained how you can get a copy of the shortcut.
