Newbie Having Problems

I'm new to Norton Onlin Backup.  I just purchased Norton 360, and am attempting to do my first backup.  At first, it seemed to be doing what it was supposed to do.... I could see a progress bar moving slowly as files were being backed up.  I don't know if my computer restarted during the process or my modem rebooted during it, but the backup appeared to have stopped working.  I assumed it had completed, but there was no message that it had.  I restarted the backup, and it began again.... but seemed to be moving faster than it had before, so I figured it had worked, and was now just backing up changes.  But when I looked in "View Details" it said that it had never run, but would be running as scheduled.  I have it set to automatic, so I would think it should be running in the background, but I can't find it anywhere.

When I click on "backup now" I get a message that it failed and that another backup is already running.  Where?  I no longer can see a status bar, showing me the progress.  I don't know what I did to make that go away.  Or does it automatically go away when an initial backup has completed?  And if so, why don't I have a message that my files have been baced up, rather than "never run?"

As you can see, I'm utterly confused as well as totally inept.  I hope someone can explain to me what's going on.  I can't seem to find answers to the these questions by looking at tutorials.... Am I looking in the wrong place?

Any help will be appreciated.  I'd like to know that I've done the backup correctly, and then I'll move on to the other parts of Norton 360 and see if I can get them set up!

Thanks.

Karen

I'm not getting any error messages aside from the warning that a backup is in progress.  I don't see the status bar anymore, or have any idea if my files have been backed up or not.  I'll try again tomorrow and see what happens.  I'd just like some kind of confirmation that the backup was done and that the files are indeed saved.  Is there a way to get online and see what files are on the Norton server?  If the servers are back up tomorrow perhaps I can log in and see if my files have been uploaded.

Thanks for the response.

It was for the servers down i suppose you should get a message or an error.

by the way, from your program you can see the statu of the backup or from http://nobu.backup.com/ you can login with yout Norton Account credentials to see the backed up files.
