I am new to Norton Antivirus and really like it so far.
In checking over the history logs, I am finding an entry every five minutes saying there has been an unauthorised access blocked from Blue Coat k9 web protection. This is a program I use to filter the internet so I am sure it is a safe program. Can anyone help me to understand what is happening? And alkso how I can keep this program from being logged. I have set an exception to the BlueCoat folder both under scan options and auto-protect ans SONAR detection.

It will be a short while before your image becomes generally visible.
To get you the best advice, would you give us some more information about your system:
What version of Windows are you using including Service Packs and whether 32 bit or 64 bit as well as the Name and Version ID of the Norton product that you are using -- Help or Support / About is where that is, in the format of nn.nn.nn.nnn
If you have the COMCAST version of Norton 360 / Security Suite and not the normal commercial version please be sure to tell us.
If you get any error messages please give the exact wording of them as well as any other background that could be helpful.
I am running XP Pro Service pack 3 -32 bit, all updates installed. Norton Antivirus 2011 just activated today. 18.5.0.125.
I'm not getting any error messages - Norton is just logging this alert every five minutes, so it is making the log huge. I would just like to make it so these particular alerts are not logged.
Sorry I was not more clear.
Thanks for the additonal background, and the screen shot now visible.
Please hang on for some help about preventing the block since it's not an area I'm into ...
Hi manymosi,
You can ignore these log entries. They are Norton Product Tamper Protection events, which are normal and harmless. Whenever an outside program, such as Blue Coat K9, attempts to access a Norton file or process it is blocked in order to prevent any disruption or compromise of Norton's security activities. Other than being denied access to Norton, K9 will be allowed to perform its regular tasks without interference and you should not see any disruptions of K9 or Norton. The log entries are there only to record Norton's activities, and the appearance of known programs and processes there can be disregarded, as they are not harmful.
Thanks for the information, that's very helpful. Is there a way, though, to make it so these entries do not show up in the history log. It makes the log very long, and hard to find the entries i'm looking for.
Hi manymosi,
There is no way to turn off the logging or exclude specific events. The easiest and fastest way to search for specific entries in Norton History is to use the "Show" dropdown list to select an individual category such as "Firewall Activities," rather than having to wade through all of "Recent History." The "Quick Search" bar is also useful if you need to find only a particular type of event.
Hello manymosi
I think this is an idea you may want to offer in the new ideas part of the forum. They might want to make this a part of a future version of Norton's. You can place your idea in that forum and while you are there, you can kudos any the ideas already there.

The reason I asked is because the system requirements for Norton internet security don't mention 64 bit systems only 32.
I've got a small home business with 3 desktop pc's & 2 laptops. 1 desktop is running windows 7 home premium the other 2 desktops are running xp pro 64 bit. The 2 laptops are HP & running windows 7. Right now we are running 3 different products for internet security. Can I run Norton internet security 2011 on all the machines?

There are a few features that do not yet work with the x64 systems. The basic [read important] security features are all x64 compliant. I'm running x64 and have not encountered any problems that were not of my own making.

Dick -- are you running XP 64 bit?
The OP apparently is and must be a rare bird indeed!
I appreeciate everyone's help. I just bought a 5 pack & am going to give it a try. I want to get everyone's computer on the same security software.
Dick -- are you running XP 64 bit?
No, I've updated/upgraded to W7 x64. Am I in trouble again?

I hope not but XP 64 bit is so rare that maybe Norton really means what it say for XP system requirements being 32 bit .....
