Hi,
I know this may sound like a dumb question, so first a little background.
My video card quit, and HP sent a tech to my home to fix it. NOTE: The computer ran fine off of the on-board video; I just couldn’t use both monitors. The tech did not fix the video card, and actually made things worse by breaking a small retaining clip that locks the VC in its slot. So HP replaced the MB and the video card. I purchased a copy of Ghost and created a backup of my C drive before shipping it to HP. I have the computer back now and I’d like to put things back the way they were before the hardware failures. I’m afraid to do this because I’ve never done it before, and I’m concerned that I may screw something up.
I’m not worried about files, it’s the software and settings that I want to restore without having to re-install each program and the endless number of patches and updates. The other items I’d need to restore are all the preferences and tweaks I had to make to Vista, that allow my programs to run properly. My concern comes from the fact that I learned long ago I know just enough about computers to get in trouble and we all know what happens when we ASSUME.
Oh yeah, OS Vista HP 32 bit. Does this sound logical and will it work the way I envision it?
Thanks Mike
