I purchased my upgrade, was given my code number, downlaoded the product and installed it. Every time I switch on I am being told that I am not protected, what should I do?
HI Tom:
Here's a few things you can check quickly:
- Did you activate/register the product with your activation key? Search for "activate your product" in Help if you aren't sure.
- When you start your product, do you see any red next to the features listed down the right side of main window (e.g., next to Insight Protection, Anti-virus, etc.)? This means the feature is turned OFF so just click to turn the feature ON.
- Did you run a LiveUpdate after installing to ensure your product has the latest malware definitions? From the main window, click the LiveUpdate link.
After you've checked these three items, the subscription status at the bottom of the main window should say something like "364 days remaining". If these simple fixes didn't work then follow PC_confused' instructions and send us a few more details.

Hi tomhendry1,
You do need to activate the product by clicking the "Renew" link at the bottom of the main Norton window and entering your renewal code or Product Key in the space provided.
HI tomhendry1:
It's possible the trial version of N360 that came bundled with your PC is causing the problems. Did you uninstall N360 before installing your NIS 2011?
If remnants of your old N360 installation are causing the problem, you may have to wipe all your Norton products off your computer using the Norton Removal Tool and then re-install NIS 2011 using a fresh installation file downloaded from here.
At this point, that's a pretty drastic solution, so I'd wait for a few more posts to see if anyone has a better suggestion.

Hello tomhendry1
Did you download NIS 2011 from a place like eBay? Would you mind telling us where you downloaded NIS 2011 from? Thanks.
