H/W: Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 with 5x1TB drives in RAID5 and a 2TB boot drive, AMD 6cpu (1050t), 4GB RAM, etc.
'Decided to experiment with RAID, and after I realized its required drivers were on the m/b CD, everything worked fine under Windows 7 pro.
So I decided to clone the 2TB Seagate boot drive (75% full) onto the RAID -- with the eventual goal of seeing if booting from the RAID worked and would result in a faster system.
But, I've found nothing that copes with a live-copy onto the RAID, from XXCLONE (which claims VSS isn't working, though it's certainly a running service) through others and finally Ghost 15.
When I first played with Ghost, it saw the RAID drive as a BACKUP target and I initiated it onto that drive (though it seemed to hang 40% of the way through?). But I could NOT get the COPY MY HARDDRIVE tool to acknowledge the RAID as a possible target.
I uninstalled NG15 so it would no longer think the RAID was a BACKUP target, then reformatted the RAID, and reinstalled NG15 doing a minor BACKUP to a memory-stick which I'd set as the standard BACKUP target . Still, Ghost wouldn't list the RAID as a viable COPY MY HARDDRIVE destination.
Is there an explanation?
Is there a work-around?
Not a happy camper here, and needing advice...
Thanks!
