Nirsoft Utilities & Norton malware definitions

Hello.

I have observed that of late, Norton is marking all Nirsoft utilities I use as potentially dangerous or unwanted, untrusted software. I have to right-click them and select 'User Trusted' setting to avoid trouble or the software/utility getting automatically deleted/quarantined.

Is this a problem with Norton anti-virus definitions? I even thought the problem to be localised and so submitted 'False Positive' reports to Symantec. They were all resolved to 'Norton Trusted'.

For example, ProduKey.exe was detected as "Trojan.Gen.2", but on submission, Symantec changed it back to 'Norton Trusted'.

But now, nearly all the uitlities are marked as suspicious. For exmaple, this includes 'CleanAfterMe.exe'. It was updated more than a year back [in May 2010] and it's status was 'Mature' and 'Norton Trusted'. That's got changed to untrusted!

Same thing has happened to SmartSniff.exe, RegDllView.exe, OpenedFilesView.exe, CurrPorts.exe, AdapterWatch.exe and so on.

I cannot file so, so many false positive reports to Symantec, so I am making a sort of all-in-one forum post.

Any clarifications from Symantec is welcome!

Thanks & regards.
