Hi Vineeth,
Thanks, I thought I saw it somewhere but couldn't find the link. Appreciate your reply.
Hi,
The protection center from NSW08 does not detect NIS at all. Is there any updates that will resolve this?
I recalled reading that NIS09 and NSW08 doesn't exactly work well together, please correct me if I'm wrong. Unfortunately, i couldn't find what is the conclusion or latest update.

Just be patient. Symantec is working very hard to solve the solution.
Just got an update on norton protection centre via live update. I thought this would be the long awaited update, however, the norton protection cernter and the live update link both vanished from NSW. Anyone encountered the same problem?
Yes - same thing for me - did fix Windows security Center's ability to see NAV2009.
Maybe we do not need Protection Center now???

Not sure how NSW gets Live Updates now through NSW.
I put a seperate Live update Icon on my desktop from Windows Explorer and it still works.
Ken
A patch was released last night in order to address this issue, you need to run LiveUpdate from the Norton SystemWorks interface and then restart the computer.
After restart and application of this patch (when NAV/NIS 2009 is present), the Norton Protection Center taskbar component will be removed, as well as the Norton Protection Center tab within the NSW UI. Security status will be owned by the 2009 product and whether overall status is green or red will be determined by the 2009 product.
Please let us know if you are seeing anything different.
Hi Ken,
How did you do the Live Update icon on your desktop?
In another post from Symantec guys here, we were told that the NSW updates will be delivered by live update on NIS. I have some serious doubts on this. Seems like your solution is better for the time being, until we get some clarification.
Thanks.
Kent,
I just checked on the Symantec site. It seems like NSW will not be continued into the future, nor do they offer subscription updates. I wouldn't expect any updates for NSW at all.
Kent
In Widows Explorer - Program files - Symantec - Live update - right click on LUALL.EXE - send to desktop (create shortcut.
I believe it was Live update from NSW that sent me a popup of an update that when downloaded and after reboot - removed the Norton Protection Center and fixed Windows Security. I do not think it came from NAV2009 as they are automated.
I think the popup said run Live update and when i cliked on the notice - it did.
I too do not think NAV2009 will update NSW2008.
I have run Live update not thru 2009 but have seen nothing new. The list in LU now shows only NSW stuff and no NAV stuff.
Will be interesting to see if there will be a NSW2009.
I read that someone reinstalled NSW2008 and got the live update back - did not mention Norton Protection Center.
Program files - Symantic - Live Update is still in Windows Explorer.
Do a search if you cannot find it.
Ken
Kent
I am able to renew subsciption for NSW2008 through the program - clicking on subscription days remaining at top of what is left of NSW.
Also can renew through Symantec site.
Do not see any indication of NSW2009 - yes or no info.
Ken
Got it, Thanks Ken.

There will be Updates for N.SW. and you will be able to Update N.SW. via Norton 2009 Products, since symantec have Released an Update for this.
Red, I’m sorry. I don’t understand what you saying. “Symantec has released an update for this.” For what?

To Fix the Issue with N.SW. not recoginsing N.AV. 2009.
That's what I said. That last update was to shut the door down on NSW updates. It removed Live Update as well as the Protection Center. It no longer needs to update virus information; and it's components won't be updated.
On the Symantec site, if you look at the subscription renewals on NSW, it says that there will be no more renewals and directs the customer toward 360.
"Product features may be added, modified, or removed during the service period."
N.SW. 2009 is being Released this year. :)
And Updates should come through Norton 2009 Products Norton LiveUpdate; obviously symantec have linked the N.SW. Updates on to the Server of Norton 2009 Products.
Red, where are you finding this information that NSW2009 is being released this year? I can’t find it on their site.
You can’t find it anywhere on the website. We just know trust me
Ah, I see.
