I installed my 3rd NIS 2013 activation on a friend's Win XP Home x86 SP3 system. As I recall I installed the product from his user account. This is the 1st time I've installed the product to a system with multiple user accts. He has Admin acct privileges & there is a second user acct on the system. The NIS taskbar icon is visible/functional on the second user acct, but there is no NIS icon on the taskbar on his acct. Additionally, if he tries to launch NIS from his account ("Start/All Programs), nothing happens. The desire is to have access from both user accounts, or only from his account if there is a 1 account access limitation. Suggestions? Thanks!
The Norton installation is valid on a given physical machine, regardless of the number of users on that computer.
Has the Norton Program been fully updated on that computer, rebooting as necessary?
I ran LU (remotely via Team Viewer) but got no advisements to restart. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact I was running remotely. I will have him run a few updates/reboots on his own & see if this resolves the issue; your suggestion makes sense to me. Thanks...
Hello
Has the previous security program installed been thoroughlly removed using the removal tool from the previous security program.? Are the other accounts using the 32 bit internet explorer?
Hi, Floplot:
This is a fresh install of NIS, immediately after a full format, chkdsk /f/r & OS reinstallation; all available Windows updates were applied over a few days time, followed by the NIS install (with reboots), followed by NIS LU 'till NIS reported it was current. Both user accounts are running latest XP compatible version of 32 bit internet explorer. I think the user typically "sleeps" the PC, though, so when I next have it in front of me,I will try a few Win/NIS update cycles & full reboots & see if perhaps something was hanging out there waiting to get updated. Thank you for the feedback -
We'll be waiting patiently.
Please let us know if you need any more suggestions.
Visited the XP machine today - user had apparently hidden his taskbar without knowing he had done so. OOPS!
There's nothing amiss with the NIS install...
