I installed the new big patch yesterday over my previous version installation. As advised by Tony Weiss. Everything has seemed to be fine. Today though. While updating my hosts file. I always run the get support as it makes a change in the host file for me. I use mvps hosts file btw. But, when doing that. It said it was doing a repair installation as well? What was that about? No details or anything was shown. I have a screenshot. It done it on both my windows 7 and 8 64 bit machines.
Anyone? I would also advise anyone that installed this patch manually like me. Run the "get support" and it will make a install repair with what ever its doing.
Not sure what that Installation Success message means, and there is no way to find out yet. I have made a suggestion in the Suggestion Board of the forum that there be more information about what is fixed by Autofix.
Thanks. In the mean time. Maybe someone from Symantec might see this post and chime in. :)

Yes, I recently had Norton Auto-Fix do an Installation Repair...

Symantec are aware of the issue as it was raised during the NIS 2013 Beta testing:

This issue most likely affects all users of the Norton 2012 and 2013 security product lines. Given that, I'd probably suggest that you don't place too much concern on this. It is yet to be determined whether or not Autofix's "installation repair" actually does anything of significance.
I concur with elsewhere. I received the latest patch via LiveUpdate and after applying the patch the first run of AutoFix also returned the same "Installation - Success" result. As noted in the link to the Beta forum, this issue dates way back. I never concern myself with it since the product functions perfectly fine both before and after this "Installation Repair". Whatever it is doing, it doesn't seem to be anything very important.
