NIS 20.3.1.22 Cannot select computer scan option or Settings (fix - beware)

After searching the internet (using Bing/Google) not Norton support, I stumbled upon this post.

I want to thank No_boundaries for your perseverance, as I have been fighting this same problem all last month. I too am disappointed with this version on my Windows 8 machine. However your last post gave me the idea of running the Norton Power Eraser. For some reason, Norton Power Eraser actually disabled my internet connection and then said it could not fix my internet connection. Due to my technical background, I manually reconnected my internet connection in Windows 8, and this allowed the Norton Power Eraser to run.

However, when it finished and reported that my database software “FileMaker Pro.exe” file was bad and needed to be removed. This is when  I grew suspicious. Since I support the FileMaker Pro software, I did not remove my database software file, instead I unclicked the remove checkmark, and closed Norton Power Eraser. However No_boundaries is correct, Norton Internet Security 20.3.1.22 now works just fine.

I must wonder how many others would have removed an executable file that belonged to a viable system or application software. I would hope that Symantec spend additional time learning the interworking of Windows 8 software prior the release of an update.
