As the subject, I wished to soon remove/uninstall Norton Internet Security 2007 in preparation to later install NIS 2010, but as I was checking various features of the still installed but old and no-longer-in-subscription NIS 2007, I found entries for quarunteened files. Now, I worry about what I should do about them. I cannot go online to the internet with that computer. What would happen if I uninstalled and removed using Norton Removal Tool? Would this release the infectious files to infect and interfere with that computer?
The entries shown in Security History of Quarenteened items are like these:
Backdoor.Haxdoor, fully removed on 6/13/2007; resolved - no action recommended. I was no longer even using the computer on that date, so I am unsure what the entry could mean.
and this next entry appears twice in this list, on an earlier date, different times...
Infostealer, partially removed on 5/23/2007; resolved - no action recommended.
I'm not sure how to send any information about these to Symantec since I do not and do not want to go online right now with that computer. I used to go to the internet wirelessly but no longer have the adapter card. NIS not in subscription, no wireless adapter, more infection risk if I were to try plugging ethernet line between computer and 'router'. Not sure how to ask Symantec for any help.
So, if I uninstall and use NRT to get rid of NIS 2007, will this let the infectious files loose and run through the computer making a big infectious file mess?
