Hi goofyvillain,

Here is a link on the Norton Forums which may be of some help.

This sublink from the above post is to the MS website which lists some of the programs which must be allowed for XBox to run. The instructions are for NIS 2005, but the list of MS programs is the important part.

Open NIS 2008.  Go to Settings > Web Browsing > Personal Firewall > Configure > Program Control.  Check the chart from the MS page and then be sure the items are not blocked. The drop down box should indicate "Custom" or "Allow".

By the way, I recommend that you take advantage of the Free update to NIS 2009 using your current valid NIS 2008 subscription. It is truly a tremendous product!

You can confirm your eligibility at the Norton Update Center.

Let us know how you do.

I am on XBOX live but my 2Wire Gateway DSL modem has 4 hard wire and 4 wireless connections aloud to it. My pc and XBOX are plugged into 2 different ports so nothing interferes. Are you sharing your pc with your XBOX? Do you have other ports for your XBOX ethernet wire in the back of your router?
