hi VWVirgin08 - try running through AutoFix - click Help and Support / Support and then the green button. i don't think it will help the framework problem, but it might get the LU problem...
on the CNDNDIg - that appears to be a file associated with your Canon camera... check and see if they have an update for their program (if you are using it and not using Picasa2...) - perhaps reinstalling it would help.
if none of the above helps, can you tell us if you have Add-On Pack or if the problem occurs while scanning?
I have installed and used NIS 2008 for about 5 months, all things is well. But, from yestoday, the LiveUpdate can not update one component (LiveUpdate Notice -> Norton product update) well, and shows the error: LU1812. Then, it always shows: 'Symantec Service Framework Stopped working'. How can I do?
I'm sorry to hear about the problems with LiveUpdate and the Framework crash. We've been actively pursuing additional information on this one and I'm hoping you can help. This document has instructions for creating a crash dump in Vista , which we could use on ccSvcHst. If you can enable this option, recreate the error and zip up the files, drop me a forum mail and I'll give you an upload location.
I'm sorry I can not get the dump file. The crashed entity is not the process ccSvcHst.exe, it is the service ccSvcHst.exe, which has 4 services related to, they are LiveUpdate Notice, Symantec Settings Manager, Symantec Event Manager, Symantec Lic NetConnect service.
And, today I use LUALL to check update again, and I find the 'LiveUpdate Notice' is removed.
Looks like I have a very similar problem to cmkf. I'm running Vista Home Premium with NIS 2008 (no add on pack). I just got the computer at the end of May and had no issues until late yesterday. I did create a dump file for ccSvcHst following the instructions in the document you referenced in the posting to cmkf. Note: I did not get more than one file and the file is large 133,000KB.
Appreciate your help. I also had one question. Is the computer "unprotected" when the service framework stops working?
Thanks - chomps

I also have this problem from 17 june 2008, when my computer startup this error will be occur around 15 minute (idle or doing something), following is eventdata from Windows Vista event log:
I still can not get the dump file from a service (not a process) as you have mentioned. I found, the computer clean startup and logon, and do nothing, the ccSvcHst.exe will crash around 21 mins.
And I want to know, after this ccSvcHst.exe crashed, does the computer still safe?
Well I guess I’m not the only one with this problem. I have 2 computers and both started this error yesterday. I get the error in about 15 minutes whether I’m working or not. A reeboot aloows the control centre to run but later same problem. It seems that liveupdate works but cannot bring up norton protection centre.Guess will have to wait for symantec techs to figure it out.
More info: today I use 'Norton removal tools' to remove the NIS2008, and re-install it again. Now it is OK, the problem gone. Funny! I guess the reason is 'the fault of LiveUpdate Notice Update' .
The "Norton removal tool" did not work for me.I even tried it several times and the Symantec rep even deleted all the Symantec shared folders which caused my Norton Save and restore to also become inoperable.I had to rebuild all the Save and restore databases which took hours. My scan still fails when scanning Norton Save and restore data on a separate partition.I've offered to send Symantec the crash logs but they have not taken me up on my offer.Wish they would find a fix and resolve this bug.

I was kind of hoping that symantec might post an update once in a while to let us know where things stand with a patch, a work around, or at the very least an answer to the question about whether the computer is protected or not. If anyone (symantec or otherwise) has information regarding the above question, please post a response so we can all move forward.
I have not tried uninstalling/reinstalling. It seems to be the popular option and it looks like it worked, at least temporarily for cmkf, but I would prefer to know what the problem is and whether uninstalling/reinstalling will fix it.
At least on my machine, I have found what appears to be a possible workaround. After the message "symantec service framework stopped working" appears, I simply log off and then log back on. NIS "seems" to works fine after that. This worked last night and today (for hours).
While this may appear as a single issue, I believe we may be looking at multiple causes. Can you tell me whether the crash occurs whlie scanning, or after reboot or when trying to run LiveUpdate? The reboot scenario is likely related to LiveUpdate, so if that is the case, can you tell me which build you are on? Also, what OS and Service Pack are you on?
Sorry for the delayed response. I haven't been able to reproduce this problem in house so I'd only be speculating. That said, I'd be concerned about security if the component has failed. An eicar test would provide a more conclusive answer as would a firewall leak test.
I have sent you a Forum email with upload details.
I am very concern the security issue, so I uninstall and re-install the NIS2008 yestoday. As I said, the problem gone. So I can not give you more help to get the dump file, sorry for it.
But, in my personal opinion, I guess I can give you some more info:
I guess the problem is because one failed update package. As I said, I find one failed update named 'LiveUpdate Notice -> Norton product update', and the update failed. Maybe this failed update change or damage some component (DLLs or others) that ccSvsHst.exe used. And later, I find 'LiveUpdate Notice -> Norton product update' has recalled, so I guess the tech of symantec already find the issue and recall the update. I don't use Auto Liveupdate feature, I use LUALL to get the udpate manually, I think that is the reason that I know this failed update and other guys don't know.
Tried to install NIS 2008 after purchasing it omline today, looks loke im getting the same error as others, it goes as far as verifing system and stops there. Any help would be appreciated. I have Vista premium home edition.
