You cannot install the Norton Antivirus part of NIS2008.

 

We can just try to configure the network with your presonal firewall of NIS2008.

 

Open Norton product> NIS tab> Settings> Norton Internet Security options> On the left pane, personal firewall> Trust control> On the right pane, you can see the network listed under the Activate tab.

 

Click on the network> Click on the Trust tab under the Activate tab>Check allow all network activities> Apply and OK.

I have gone through all that in the last 2-3 months with support in this forum, including completely uninstalling and reinstalling NIS a number of times.  The only thing that allowed my connections to work properly was to uninstall NIS (the managing of the options in the Trust area did not solve the problem).

 

So, you cannot just install NAV from NIS?  Too bad! 

 

Check my Thread "Problems with NIS 2008" and you can see what I have already gone through attempting to get NIS 2008 to work properly with my home network.

You could offcourse uninstall NIS –>download nav –> install NAV

Ok, since I have NIS 2008, I can download and install NAV at no extra costs?

 

That would be great.  I will try the download.

I don’t think that the activation keys are the same for the two products so this probably won’t work.

So I would have to buy a Standalong copy of NAV?  Or is there another way around this so I don't have to purchase 2 products?

If you have a valid product key for Norton Antivirus ( product key which starts with the letter V) ,then the customer service executives may be able to transfer the subscription of Norton Internet Security to your Norton Antivirus product and then you can install the Norton Antivirus 2008.

 

If you do not have a product key for the Norton Antivirus product,then you will have to purchase a Norton Antivirus product ,then contact the Customer service executives, They will add the subscription in your NIS product to the NAV purchased.
