Are you working towards making N.I.S. 2009 Run Error-free with Windows Service Pack 3 as there has been lots of Errors reported regarding S.P. 3., as I have an Windows Automatic Update - At Risk Error which, as Technical Support suggested, was caused by S.P. 3; please see my Post, Windows Automatic Update - At Risk for details of this.
I see some folks reporting the latest NIS 2008 version is 15.5.0.23. My 'About' shows I have 15.0.0.60 (on a Vista Home Premium 32 bit computer). A few questions:
1. Shouldn't LiveUpdate keep my NIS updated to the latest version?
2. If not, where and how can I get the latest version (update patch or re-installing)?
3. Is there a compelling reason to update, especially if it means uninstalling, reinstalling, etc?
Thanks to these forums, I did update my LiveUpdate to the latest version (even though LiveUpdate doesn't update itself!). Despite the problems others were having, mine updated fine.
Any insight is appreciated.
PS- I think Norton got it right with this product. It's fast, quiet, and effective.

We're working toward making all released version of Norton products to run error-free with Windows XP sp3 and Windows Vista sp1. Please see the below link to an update that addresses the current major issues with Windows XP sp3:

Thanks!
Greetings,
LiveUpdate delivers incremental updates to definitions and product components as we release them. It is not currently set up to handle a major product upgrade.
We do push updates for LiveUpdate itself when we find a problem that we think warrants a release to the general population. So far the 3.4 version that shipped with the 2008 product line has been pretty stable.
You can install the new build of Norton Internet Security over the top of your current version. It may be necessary to restart your computer during this process. You can find step-by-step instructions in this document.
Some bug fixes are included in the new build. If you're not experiencing problems with the product, I'd say it's up to you as to whether you want to upgrade to the new build.
Thanks for the feedback. I agree that this is our best version so far. We're working on making the 2009 products even more efficient.
