Are you sure you are fully updated?

I see you are working with 15.0 ; 15.5 is allready available

Stu, thanks for the reply. I assume that moving to the new version means uninstalling the current version and then reinstalling the new. Correct? Or is it smart enough to update whatever is necessary. As far as using Live Update goes, everything is up to date. It seems to me that installing NIS 2008 means uninstalling Spybot 1.5 and AdAware 2007 first. Then reinstalling the whole lot. This problem is not serious enough for me to go through that effort. I firmly believe if it aint' broke (much) don't fix it. NIS 2008 basically just works other than this little glitch and I'd rather not mess with a good thing.

Any other thoughts out there.

That’s correct. If you are reinstalling, the installer will update to the latest version instantly.

In my experience NIS is good at telling you what it is doing and in my case the new version has told that it is uninstalling the previous one and then installing the new one. I don't recollect that it does an update of changed files but I may be wrong.

In any case download the newnis and run it .... <g>

Is the issue I'm describing a known issue with the version I'm running? Is updating to a new version a known solution? Generally updating to the new version of any particular software is a good thing, but not always. I'm sure many readers can attest to that. So are the recommendations to upgrade general in nature or do they specifically address the issue?

Thanks to those who replied.

Cheers.

I can't give you direct answers on any of that since I have not knowingly encountered the problem you describe! I usually ignorethe red cross on that icon anyway <g>

But if you go through messages in this forum I recollect seeing at least one thread about it.

Thanks. A searching I will go ...

I'm not sure if the NIS 15.5 update will correct your specific issue, but it is always a good idea to install an available update to ensure that the latest software is installed and protecting your system, and to ensure that when we talk about "NIS 2008", we're talking about NIS 15.5.

That being said, I didn't see a mention of contacting our Customer Support Team through NIS 2008 Help & Support to resolve this issue. Once you have updated NIS 2008, I would recommend contacting our Customer Support Team to have our technicians access your system and have a thorough examination of the issues you see. Please let us know how this works for you. Thanks!
