Did you execute the file? I tested it and it sure looks safe but we have to wait for a Symantec employee to confirm

Yes, I held my breath and executed. All seemed to go well and normal until I was asked to select restart. I closed other windows I opened and used to write the query to the forum and then selected restart. The computer did not restart fully, it hung with a blank dark screen. I had to force shutdown with the power button. I started the machine and everything booted well and the norton screen came on by itself and installed the update and scanned the computer finishing to a safe end. I exercised a few programs and there was no glitches noticed. I guess all is well....

Thanks for checking. I surmised as much as all seems well. It does scan the system faster and checks and finds more updates.
