NIS 2009 "Blue Screen" Lockups...

Help for this:

I utilized an email offer from Symantec to upgrade my subscription of NIS 2006 to NIS 2009 / AntiVirus.

I am running Win XP Sp3. Home Media Center Edition.

I have IE + Safari browsers installed.

I did the "download" install - per email connect guidelines.

30 to 40 minutes after a 'flawless' install - I hit my first 9of what was to be chronic) Blue Screen freeze-ups.

NOTE:  The download offer did NOT require me to pre-remove my old NIS 2006 product.  NIS 2009 did this function automatically during the upgrade.  There were no warnings or issues - like in past upgrades as Norton always required me to first uninstall through Add/Remove Win software.

After First reboot, I was only able to keep 'free' of freeze-ups every 8 to 10 minutes.

Here is the message I kept getting:  "MXDISK.SYS"  "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA"

The 'dump' address I received seemed to change during each Blue Screen 'event'.

Here is one:  MXDISK.SYS Address  ACDDBA4B  BASE@ ACDD6000  DATESTAMP 48AEFeod.

CHAT online proved to be frustrating and useless.  They inferred I had a corrupted Registry - and should go back to my computer manufacturer.  Even though I had never had the Blue Screen "death" instance before NIS 2009 install.  I have had computer for 3 to 4 years now.

I finally was told to remove NIS 2009 through the Add/Remove Win software.  This went okay.  It seems...

All I want, since I still have allot of subscription time with NIS 2006 - is to reinstall NIS 2006.

I have the CD - with written down product key.  It was part of my software from the DELL package.

Now:  CD spins up but refuses to do anything more than display initial CDSTART window selection.

After several checks, it appears the CD is looking for IE - to be able to open and run.  As stated - I have IE - and it is "active".

Under the "Set Program Access and Defaults" - I have done various selection of MICROSOFT / Non-Microsoft / CUSTOM choices.  Rebooted - but nothing happens.

Any ideas as to how to get 'back to the future' with NIS 2006 so I can use my paid subscription services.

Thanks.....
