Replaced NIS 2008 with NIS 2009 after a complete uninstall and running the Norton removal tool. NIS 2009 works great with little overhead however, big problem - Vista Backup now fails on file backup while making shadow copies. Error 0x8007005. Full backup works fine, just individual file backup fails. Uninstalling NIS 2009 fixes the problem immediately.
Symantec tech had me run msconfig and shut most everything off and then it worked, but I simply don't have time to reboot 30 times to check which is the culprit. Also, why should I have to do this? Symantec should fix this problem. NIS 2008 worked fine.
Disabling the Norton Tamper Protection as suggested did not help.
Anyone else have this problem or have any ideas? This is a serious problem and it's not just Vista backup. I've seen posts of similar behaviour with Casper and even Ghost.
