NIS 2009 BSOD due to SRTSP64.SYS

Snehansh,

The problem came back, the work around stopped working yesterday. I needed to reinstall NIS 2008. If the solution is simple, why should the fix take a long time? I need this problem solved so I can resume using NIS 2009.

Thanks, Medico

Medico,

If I understand the problem correctly, you are saying verifier is NOT enabled against - srtsp.sys - and you are still seeing the issue - blue screen. If so, please create a memory dump and send it to us.

If verifier is not enabled and you are still seeing a blue screen, then it may be a different issue altogether.

The previous issue you encountered was because you had enabled the verifier against srtsp.sys which you should not be doing. As Reese mentioned earlier, problems with our driver involving the verifier are not as high a priority. It is not recommended enabling driver verifier against srtsp.sys except by Symantec developers only for debugging purposes.

Thanks,

Snehansh

Snehansh,

The problem is resolved after clean install of Vista 64 bit. As other tech mentioned to me, the cause may have been that a Windows Update did not install right.

I did not enable verifier.  I did not use that program, only when you asked to check it. I thought those settings were normal. It was enable. After the clean install, I checked verifier and was not enable.  I think that could have been part of the problem. I wonder if the verifier was enable when the Windows Update did not install right. Thanks to God, the problem is resolved. Thank you all for the help.

Rayoflight,

Can you change the system settings to "Complete Memory Dump" and if the problem is reproducible, create a complete memory dump ?

Thanks.
