Hi irishguymcr,
I'm sorry to hear about the connectivity problem you encountered after installing NIS 2009. There is no explicit issue with the product inhibiting connectivity, but it is possible that a problem occurred within the program rules which caused the problem you experienced. Can you confirm whether you are able to confirm exactly what programs were affected? Could you receive email?
I would recommend contacting support as they will quickly narrow down and resolve the problem. If you'd like to try working through it yourself, try the steps listed here and let us know what you find.
Thanks,
Matt
Irish Guy,
I had a similar problem when I tried to install Norton System Works Premier Edition AFTER installing NIS 2009. There was a conflict with some artifact of either a previous (now uninstalled) version of Norton System Works Basic Edition or else with the files of NIS 2009. Whatever it was, the result was immediate loss of all ability to connect to the internet. IE didn't work. AOL didn't work. Firefox didn't work. MS Outlook Email didn't work. The problem (as with you) cleared up the moment I uninstalled NIS 2009. I kept fiddling with the two installations for hours before I gave up.
Finally, I used the (not quite working) 2009 Norton Removal Tool, reinstalled my old NSW Basic Edition and NIS 2009, and everything works.
I don't know how much of this will apply to your situation, but one thing is clear: both of us lost internet connectivity as a result of something NIS 2009 was doing.
BTW, I got numerous error messages while I was trying to work this out; did you get any error messages at all?
Good luck,
Hi,
This only happened since the most recent Windows Security Updates before that everything was ok.
I have removed NIS 2009 and ran the removal too and rebooted, reinstalled NIS 2009 and again unable to connect to my wireless network.
I removed NIS 2009 again and I have full connectivity this has also happened on my Dell Vista Sp1 laptop it looks like a conflict between the latest MS Update and NIS 2009.
Hi Matt
I just got another update from MS Hotfix for Windows (KB946776)
This appears to have resolved the issue.
Thanks for your help
Brian
Thanks for the update, Brian. We're researching the referenced Hotfix now.
