NIS 2009 configuring capabilities

Could someone give me some feedback on NIS2009 and how configurable it is.  I used to have NIS2006 on my computer and was very, very happy with it, with the exception of how much memory it used and how sometimes it could cause my computer to slow down to almost a crawl.  I bought NIS2007 and I don't remember what it was but I really hated that version and went back to NIS2006.  I upgraded to NIS2008 earlier this year and was again very disappointed.  I liked how I could configure the software to block things based on websites (e.g., popups, cookies, etc.), control scripts, etc. which NIS2008 got rid of.  Tech Support told me that Norton decided to drop that feature because people were using other popup blocker toolbars, like Google, etc.  (I don't like the Google or other toolbars available).  I would occasionally have problems, but once I could identify problem websites, I could add it to NIS' web configuration and IE's privacy control for cookies.  I liked being able to run both Norton and Windows firewalls simultaneously. Yeah it was alittle redundant, but never caused a problem.  The NIS firewall interfered with some peripherals so I could turn it off and know I'd have at least some protection from the Windows one.  NIS2008 always turns the Windows firewall off, the IE's cookie blocker isn't worth a **bleep**, I can't configure NIS2008 to ignore certain cookies (it's either scan them all or ignore them all), and I'm constantly having to delete malware and spyware off my computer.

I guess what I'd like to know is if NIS2009 allows for more control and allows for more personalization by the user, like I had with NIS2006, or if I buy it I'm going to be just as disappointed as I am with NIS2008?
