NIS 2009 is like getting my PC back! But, there are questions

It is fine to re-install Norton AntiBot alongside N.I.S. 2009.

N.I.S. 2009 has the best Features of Norton AntiBot with it; the whole of the single N.AB. Product is not in N.I.S. 2009, however, the Norton AntiBot features in N.I.S. 2009 are much better than the stand-alone Product of Norton AntiBot.

Hi lyndonevans,

Here's a great post from Davecole about NIS 2009 and Norton AntiBot:

Thanks!

I just completed installation of NIS 2009.  I had to uninstall all the old software versions, including Antibot before the installation would work.  Now, my PC is, I swear, twice as fast when coming up from a boot and while running programs and surfing the Internet!

However, I'm worried about the Antibot product.  I did chat help and got two answers, neither with any confidence showing.  First I was told I should reinstall Antibot; then I was told not to reinstall it.  The sales documentation for NIS 2009 says "BOT protection" at least twice.  But, there's nothing I can find in the new product about BOT's or how I'm protected.  I'm running now without Antibot, but I sure would appreciate a technical person here in the USA from Symantec telling me which way I should go.

Also, I think NIS 2009 should have more and finer controls, e.g.., the BOT function and others, for more sophisticated users.

But, so far, this new product will make my whole family happy - it's like night and day!  I keep thinking maybe I don't have something turned on.

Thanx Tony

So it is not necassery to run it alongside of v2009.

Although I must admit that I've read some posts over here that AntiBot did catch some samples v2009 couldn't get rid of

Threatfire works great along side NIS Stu. And its free.

But I was reffering to the post from Tony about the blog from Dave

Antibot is incorporated into NIS 2009. Simply look here.
