There are several other threads about this. Symantec is working on a hot fox for it. Remember that NIS 2009 uses pulse updates which means every 5 -1 5 minutes it checks for updates and apply's them if there is any. If there are no updates then you will along period of time between updating. Also be sure your not running any other security pordcuts since they may interfere with NIS. I use Threatfire but thats is fine.
That's correct. It can't update if there aren't any. There are periods that updates are neede every 8 hours for example. But in some stormy times NIS will update you every 5 minutes
Sometimes Norton does not update. I'll check it and it reports Definitions Updates 7 hours ago, or whatever. Doesn't happen to often. When I click run live update. It updates and works fine. It will work for several days then I check and I have to manually update and everything is fine again. Well today I finally put 2 and 2 together and figured it out. It only happens after my computer has been sleeping.
For some reason updates won't start after the computer wakes. Once I start it Manually everything is fine. So thought I would let Norton support know about this issue. I'm on Vista Home P

I pointed this out a few days ago and got a lot of "noise" that is was likely my problem, my fault, etc. I contended there is a software bug, and if there is a fix in the works, that confirms it.
I am running XP Pro and have had problems with updates since I starting beta testing in the summer time. Good to see that at least now some of the fan boys are acknowledging the issue.
