I performed a full system scan with my NIS 2009 v. 16.7.2.10 (XP sp3 IE7) and it turned up a “Downloader” and told me "fully removed"and no action required. The location was C:/documents and settings/user/application data/sun/java/ deployment/cache/6.0/ 57/4839f1b9-3dca71c2. I found that this appeared in “Quarantine” and “Resolved Security Risk” as dealt with and no action required and “Norton Community Watch” as a statistical submission. I did a search on my computer and discovered that the file on the end of the above path which I assumed was the downloader was still there on the same path - an .idx file of 1 KB in size. I then decided to look in Norton’s Quarantine file but access was denied and “properties” showed nothing in it (0 files etc). This has confused me - is the suspect file the code above after the “… /57/” or was there another file called “downloader” on the end of the above or has the code file been cleaned out? NIS tells me it’s taken care of but I hoped someone can explain how this works and sorry to be so dumb.
