NIS 2009 slows down Picasa 3 horrendously, typically through Auto-Protect

NIS 2009 is seriously slowing down the computer to a crawl (high CPU usage) whenever I start Picasa 3. I do know that the Auto-Protect feature scans every single file in process, and that Picasa 3 actually is a photo management software, showing all photos in Picasa. And because of these, everytime I scroll down through the collections of photos I have in Picasa 3, the CPU usage always go really high.

Like this.

This process shows that Auto-Protect is in action. Similarly, all other entries showing "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\..." are the same as the one shown in the tooltip. Just look at the number of processes!

Note that, the one highlighted blue in the above screenshot is the same here. Looking above, you could see that before Auto-Protect checks the specific file, Picasa 3 is obviously reading the JPG file. And mind you, all the other entries showing "C:\Documents and Settings\Wong Fa..." are exactly same as in the tooltip too. And that one .JPG file applies for that long list of Auto-Protect check! And I have more than 4 GBs of images in here! Certainly it hogs my computer to the max!

I am sure that Auto-Protect is behind this because if I exclude the My Pictures folder in the Auto-Protect Exclusions, all the "...\Norton\Definitions\VirusDefs\..." never show at all. But of course, for security sake, I will always want to include the folder, right?

Anyway to resolve this?
