NIS 2009 *Still* Blocking GHOST 14 ("Duplicate Object")

Hi Group,

It's me again.  Since July 25th, 2009 I've been having GHOST 14/NIS 2009 problems.

Main issue is that NIS "blocks" GHOST (as shown in the NIS History/Log) whenever I try to execute it from the Sys Tray or Progam File location (see Screen Shot, below, ).

Or, at least it blocks the following GHOST file from executing -- C:\Program Files\Norton Ghost\Agent\VProSvc.exe.  Says it's a "Duplicate Object" (whatever that is).

The only real manifestation of a problem from all this shows up when GHOST trys to do an "incremental recovery point."  It just "hangs" at 1%.

And, this whole things makes me *really* doubt whether GHOST is providing back-up protection -- if and when I ever need to "recover my computer," etc.

Per suggestions from the Forum here, I used the Norton Removal Tool and removed all Norton Products.  Then, reinstalled NIS 2009.  After that, GHOST 14.

Still get the same block on GHOST.

As I've mentioned before (in prior posts),  if I turn NIS's "Norton Product Tamper Protection" OFF, then VProSvc.exe (above) is not blocked, when I execute GHOST from the System Tray. GHOST comes up, etc.

But, when I try to execute *anything* from the GHOST Progam File -- with or without "...Tamper Protection..." OFF, nothing happens -- GHOST does not come up at all.  Yet, at least I don't get a block, in the NIS History/Log, if "...Tamper Protection..." is OFF.

Below is a Screen Shot showing the block ("....Tamper Protection..." is ON).  [Shortly after this, I turned "... Tamper Protection..." OFF, to do some trials -- and when I do that, I always unplug my DSL -- so this is the message immediately above the block, about "...IP address has disappeared..."]

Like I said, the "Duplicate Object" thing seems to be key.

Anyone have any ideas?

Appreciate the help.

Kind Regards,

Robby

[BTW, I'm running Win XP SP3 on a 2004 Toshiba laptop, 80GB HDD/23GB used.  No other AV/Firewall programs -- except Windows Firewall is ON, in Control Panel.  HDD has been "chkdsk"-ed several times -- says it's fine.  And have run "fsutil query dirty C:" -- says "C: is NOT dirty." ]
