I'm running Win XP with NIS 2009. After I restarted the computer, there's a message from NIS 2009 saying that idle scan was completed but I also noted it reported a virus/trojan (captioned above). It also mentioned it was removed successfully.
I looked further into it and found this web page from Symantec (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2007-101013-3606-99&tabid=3). It has a 6-step instruction for the virus/trojan removal.
I've run liveUpdate and performed a full system scan to ensure the computer is safe. However, from reading the aforementioned web page, I'm concerned that System Restore of XP may have backup the virus/trojan in the computer.
I'm concerned about possible risks/drawbacks from performing step (1) to disable System Restore, and step (3) "Tool to reset shell\open\command registry subkeys".
What's your advice?
Thanks in advance.
