I have been using NIS since 2006, and have done the sequential year upgrades using CD disk versions of the program.
I still have about a month left on my 2008 NIS subscription, but on Friday I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to NIS 2009 using the online download/upgrade method. Well the upgrade did not go smoothly, and at first I was getting the error window "Necessary file ISProd could not be loaded" (1002,1), also some JAVA runtime installer error message??...well after running the norton fix utility this error message went away, and I was able to download the updates using Live update...etc. However I'm noticing some strange behavior that I did not have with NIS 2008 especially with Automatic Program Control... when I try to run a program for the 1st time it will hang. I can see the program .exe file under Task Manager - proceeses, but I cannot kill it. I disabled Automatic program control so NIS will ask me what I want to do, but this still doesn't seem to help. Example I just tried running Adobe updater, and the Adobe_updater.exe is listed under Task manager Proceeses, but the updater is not visible on my screen or is it running under Task manager Applications. So I am thinking either I have a bad install of NIS 2009 or I am not totaly familiar with all the new settings that this new version has, and maybe something is set in NIS2009 that my system does not like. I am running WXP with SP3
Any ideas, assistance appreciated... thanks,
Lester
