I'm asking this question because no matter how I tried to explain it to an online tech rep he just couldn't understand me and thought I merely wanted to upgrade from 2008 to 2009 when in fact the following is the situation :-
I have the full installation NIS 2008 cd rom and licence ( due to expire in 10 days ) obviously I want to upgrade to 2009 but would prefer to pay the price of the upgrade version rather than the price of the full 2009 version which is £ 24 more expensive than the upgrade version from where I have seen it online.
My question is - if I at some point in the future I decide to format my HDD and reinstall the o/s and all programs, will I have to first reinstall the old NIS 2008 full version before reinstalling the 2009 upgrade version ? I ask because I know it is impossible to do a fresh clean install of a Windows Vista upgrade disc without having a previous windows operating system on the drive and assume that the norton upgrade ( not full ) disc is the same.
Obviously the scenario I want to avoid is trying to install the 2009 NIS upgrade disc after a reformat only to be told it is impossible as I have no pre-existing NIS software on my HDD.
Thanks
