I have a small business with about 6 PCs networked through a router and have a networked printer. I was using just the Antivirus alone with no issues.... then I installed NIS about a week ago and everything seemed to work fine. But then... after a week or so.. I am finding issues on the network.
With no change to the network, a few disturbing things have happened over the past two days:
1. All shared drives were disabled from central PC runnig NIS.
2. The shared network printer stopped working, nor can it be pinged from any PC.
I am just about fed up with NIS to the point I am considering eating the costs of the 6 3-year licenses and removing NIS all together.
Some things I have tried...
1. I had to remove NIS entirely from our server PC just to allow all PCs to access the shared drives..
2. I tried disabling all the firewall features I think were relevant.. no luck.
3. I tried adding the printer as a device to the network security map.. placed PC and printer in FULL TRUST.. no luck
4. Remote monitoring, computer discover off.. no luck.
5. I tried to ping the printer's IP address.. and the PC says the IP does not respond..
Is there any way to just turn off ALL features except the antivirus? Maybe I could start from there.
Any help is appreciated..
