Have a Windows 7 Pro desktop that can't connect to a network share on Server 2K3. The Win 7 client can't even see the server. If NIS SmartFirewall is disabled, the server is visible and the network can be remapped. Once the connection is made, NIS doesn't block access until a reboot.
The server and desktop are in the network security map. Trust level full trust and shared have been tested. On reboot, with either setting, the server is no longer visible and the mapped drive indicates it is not connected. The firewall has to be disabled again. With trust level as soft as full or shared, why is NIS blocking?
Update settings are automatic download. Maybe I goofed by thinking NIS was updated and not forcing an update check. Could this be a problem that has been resolved? I saw some indication of that in this forum.

This is a client who has a Windows 2003 R2 server used as a file server for company files and QuickBooks. The server is not a DC. Their internal network is peer-peer.
