I've been through several versions of NIS 2010 over the last few months. Runing Win7 RC Build 7100. Originally my home network worked fine, but, I don't use it frequently, so I don't know since when it was blocked.
On 9/1 I installed NIS 2010 Vs 17.0.0.127. On 9/7 I noticed that my home network file sharing was 'blocked'. From the Win 7 installation I could not 'see' files & folders on Vista machines & vice versa. All Vista machines 'saw' each other. On 9/8 I spent all day debugging, setting the network machines from Shared to Trusted in the firewall settings, twice disabling the firewalls, disabling AV protection, deleting the homegroup on the Win 7 machines & many other changes. No success. This morning, on 09/09/09, I went a step further and uninstalled NIS completely (keeping settings). Immediately file sharing was back to normal, from Win7 to Vista and vice versa.
I reinstalled NIS, since I don't need file sharing often amd the machine has a dual boot to either Win7 or Vista and all use files are accesible from either 'side'. Has anyone else seen this problem and has it been 'fixed' for the released version? Temporarily I can live with it, but in the long run it needs fixing. Could it be unique to my machine?
Any help/advise would be appreciated. Peter K
