NIS 2010 ''cleanup'' of a non-existent infection eats its own Norton Toolbar

I opened a thread recently about NIS not recognizing a Hotbar installation file.  I just downloaded the installer, after Google showed a link serving Hotbar in one of the searches i did - mostly to test what NIS will do, as I already now Hotbar is bad stuff.

Well, today AutoProtect recognized it and deleted that installation.

Mind you - I didn't install Hotbar.

Nevertheless, NIS proceded also to clean remnants of a nonexistent infection in the registry. Doing that it seems to have killed its' own toolbar -

1. the toolbar is not visible

2. neither the Toolbar nor the IPS extension are present in the extension list

The other extensions are there and working. I also see the Vista-aero Firefox theme, but I cannot enable it.

Now, what to do? Other question - why does NIS ''clean'' things that are simply - not there?
