OS: Windows XP (Professional) SP3
Product: NIS 2009 upgraded to 2010
Version: 16.8.0.41
Last Update: Feb 10-12, 2009
Earlier today, my computer rebooted (gfx card issue), but after I restarted the PC, my NIS 2010 was completely disabled (IS and FW).
When I opened up the Norton CP, I saw my definitions were WAY out of date... by over 200,000 days!
Whenever I try to run LiveUpdate, I get an error from the Service Framework, then my NIS completely shuts down.
I tried to Uninstall NIS 2010 using the standard windows removal tools, but that caused a Service Framework error.
I then tried to run the Norton Removal Tools (Jan 2010), this too caused a Service Framework error.
I finally decided to go into SafeMode (Admin) and Uninstall / NRT, but BOTH still caused a Service Framework error.
(Task manger has none of the NAV proccess running in the background)
So... I am unable to use or remove NIS from my PC, and currently wondering what is the best way to remove NIS 2010.
I thought about going into SafeMode and deleting all the files manually from my:
\ProgramFiles\Norton Internet Security
\ProgramFiles\Symantec
\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\Symantec Shared
folders, remove all the registry keys, then try to run Norton Remove Tools, but I have a feeling that will not change my SafeMode "Service Framework" errors either.
I don't want to miss any registry keys in the process and be unable to re-install NIS on this system.

Has anyone ever experiened this issue before?
If not, does anyone know of any other way to REMOVE NIS 2010 from my system so I can do a fresh re-install?
I don't want to stay on my PC unprotected for a long period of time.
Thanks.
