I use NIS 2010, running on WinXP SP3.
I am confused about the context-menu scan options.
If a single file is selected, the option is Insight Network Scan. This type of scan can take up to approximately 50 seconds (!), with 80-90% CPU usage.
If two or more files are selected, the option is Scan Now. This type of scan completes in just a couple of seconds.
One would assume that since the Insight Network Scan takes so much longer than a regular scan that it would be superior? How much can a regular scan be trusted? If the Insight Network Scan is the preferred method, why isn't it available when scanning more than one file?
Having to individually scan each file (and waiting up to 50 seconds for each one!) is rather inconvenient. An alternate method of scanning a group of files is to create a custom scan of the folder containing the files, and then run that custom scan. This, however, only runs a regular scan, not an Insight Network Scan.
I am very confused by NIS 2010's two different scan modes!
