Greetings. I have NIS 2010 v17.5.0.127 installed on my PC; the operating system is Windows XP, SP3, with all up-to-date patches and hot fixes. I replaced a failed hard drive with a new one and reinstalled Windows followed immediately by NIS 2010.
The "My Computer" right-click context menu does not display correctly when a CD or DVD containing data or audio is inserted in the DVD-RW drive. Similar to issues reported by users of NIS 2009, the text of the context menu shifts to the right and is partially cut off. This problem does not manifest itself if the drive is empty or if a blank CD or blank DVD is in the drive.
I presented this issue to Norton via e-mail and received a tech support response that recommended downloading the Norton Removal Tool, which in effect would delete NIS 2010 and Norton Utilities from my computer, and obtaining NIS-UPGRADE-ESD-17-1-0-19UPEN.
My Norton 2010 software has been on the system for a little more than one week. Under the circumstances, uninstalling and reinstalling seems an extreme measure.
Is there a "hot fix" in the works to remedy right-click context menu problems associated with NIS 2010?
