Great to hear that learner44 ws able to fix his problem. I happen to also have exactly the same problem. I installed Norton Internet Security 2010 last week over my NIS 2009, and I have experienced noticeable sluggish system startup time (for Vista Home Premium), and some delay in some Windows tasks in usage.
I tried running the Norton Removal Tool 5 times, and reinstalled Norton Internet Security 2010 from your instructions, but as of now, my startup time is still quite delayed. It is delayed in the sense that after I enter my password from the Vista entry-page, loading my program shortcuts and Windows sidebar gadgets, and also the Welcome Center screen takes quite long compared to when I was using 2009.
Is there any other advice you guys can give me? Should I try installing Norton Internet Security 2009 again, then running the Norton Removal Tool several times, and reinstalling the 2010 version afterwards?
I've been using Symantec products since 2007 and have been more satisfied since NIS 2009. I really don't want to shift to another security suite due to the inconvenience of a longer startup time, but hope to get advice on fixing this issue.
