Hi, I really could use some help here.
Wednesday, NIS 2010 comes up and says that my subscription service was expired. I got some help with tech support and they showed me how to click on 'Subscribe Now' and it connected to the Symantec server and seemingly fixed the trouble.
Now, Thursday going into early Friday morning I turned the pc on to find NIS 2010 saying the subscription was expired again. I used the method tech support showed me and it turned my NIS 2010 back on.
So, I ran live update and it seemed to update my definitions. Then, NIS 2010 told me I had to click on 'Fix Now'. I ran 'Fix Now' it ran live update again and said that I didn't need updates yet. Then, 'Fix Now' failed.
And, to top it off, NIS 2012 tells me that I haven't ran live update for 6 days when I already ran it a few hours ago.
I read up on NUA.exe and deactivated it, hoping it would solve the problem. I rebooted the computer after using msconfig to turn off NUA.exe and, when the pc came back on my NIS 2010 subscription problem came back!
I re-did all of the steps, ran 'Fix Now' again and still have the same problem. I suspect the next time I turn the PC back on yet again, it'll do the same crap.
This thing is driving me insane.
On another note, I did a search of my pc to see the new files that have been modified this week and found something called 'NIS12_download' that is a VB Script file. What is this and can anyone help me out here?
Is there a new virus going around that attacks NIS 2010? All in all, it seems I still have the latest definitions and am protected but I have to keep going through the steps listed above just to turn on NIS 2010.
Now, this afternoon, Friday, I turn on the Pc and had to do the 'Subscribe Now' option yet again. It reactivated everything and now the 'Fix Now' alert is gone, it says my system is now secure and it says that live update ran about a half hour ago when the most recent time I ran live update was last night.
Please, someone, anyone, help me if you can. I'm close to taking a sledgehammer to this stupid computer!
