NIS 2010 uistub.exe and LiveUpdate will not start

I am (i.e. was) using NIS 2010 and Windows XP.

 

uistub.exe and LiveUpdate will not start. There are no error messages.

 

It appears (to my great concern) that the NIS 2010 virus screening is also not running.

 

I click on uistub.exe and nothing happens.

 

This is the 4 th. this has happened in 2 weeks.

 

I have uninstalled and reinstalled NIS 2010 3 times in the last 2 weeks.

 

I have been using NIS for several years. I have never had this problem before.

 

The 'reinstall'' fix annoys me and it is clearly not a 'fix' for very long.

 

Do not tell me it is a 'Windows problem'.

 

I am considering abandoning NIS altogether.

 

Microsoft MSSE is free and, it appears, more robust and reliable.
