NIS 2010 WAN Connection Problem

I had a tech support reinstall of NIS 2010 today to fix a problem with a disabled Smart Firewall and Intrusion Detection that appeared today.

After the reinstallation on rebooting the WAN connection was disabled after NIS 2010 started.  The problem appears to be the Smart Firewall.  If the machine is booted with Smart Firewall turned off before reboot or shortly after booting the WAN connection is established and then Smart Firewall can be turned on.   I also tried doing a reset on the Smart Firewall advanced configuration but this didn't help.  I'm not sure the reset worked as the apply button wasn't activated when pressing the reset link.

The technical support fix was to disable smart firewall after each boot and then reenable after the WAN connection is established or to reinstall.  This is cumbersome,

Does anyone have a different solution to this problem?

I am willing to perform yet another reinstall but I'm not sure this will fix the problem.  It seemed to create the problem today.

Thanks.
