NIS 2010 with Win 7 64-bit and Thunderbird - virus removal fails

Hi,  I jsut installed NIS 2010 on a new install of win 7 and i use thunderbird for email.  When NIS does a scan, it brings up an action required window stating that a threat exists and that removal failed.  It offers the action of Rescan or Help.  Neither does anythign to remove the virus.  When I click on the virus, all the itmes seem to be in my email folders.  I'm guessing as attachements to files.

For example:

reg_pass.zip

[Contained in] unknown003b392.data

[Contained in] c:\users\jonathan\appdata\roaming\thunderbird\profiles\8r7y98q0.default\mail\local folders\junk

Infected

Thunderbird keeps all mail in a folder in one file.

I have searched all mail for a reg_pass.zip with no luck.

I contacted Norton chat support and was told that I would have to pay someone to help me remove these threats.  That is not a solution as I have removed the ones I coudl find (items in junk folder) but others I cannot and new ones appear all the time.

Does anyone have a solution? Is NIS just not forThunderbird users?

Thanks
